Small Brass Buddha Meditating on Bodhi Leaf Amulet

A simple, elegant, small (1-inch high) bronze Buddha pendant in the shape of an unblossomed lotus. This is pre-worn, probably by a monk or Magee (nun) at the temple. The back is worn almost smooth. It’s a very nice effect. You can see the spires of three temples just faintly.

Description

This is one of our smallest metal (brass and copper mix we think) Buddha amulets. This one features Siddhartha Gautama Buddha meditating on the background of a Bodhi leaf (tree is Ficus religiosa). The Bodhi tree was the kind Buddha was said to have meditated under when he reached enlightenment, the end of suffering.

The reverse side mirrors the Buddha image on the front, but with Pali symbols. The reverse is also covered in Pali language script. Pali was the language of the Buddha 2500 years ago.
