Thai Phra Luang Pu Thuat (Phor Thuat) Solid Silver Amulet

Once again we were at one of our favorite local Theravada Buddhist temples in Krabi, Thailand and we found this rare solid silver Phra Luang Pu Thuat (Thuat, Thuad) Thai pendant with authenticity stamp on it (see pics).

Luang Pu Thuat is one of the top figures in Thai Theravada Buddhism. Nearly everyone has an LPT amulet to wear for special occasions, or for daily use around their neck on a necklace. His powers were unfathomable. There are many stories about things he did that were magical and defied all logic.

WHO IS PHRA LUANG PU THUAT?

Luang Pu Thuat is one of the most famous Buddhist monks worldwide. He is Thai and he was known to have exhibited powers that were said to be other-worldly. He could change the physical, material world and did it on occasion. Not for show, but in matters where it helped people. One such instance is on the boat when the waves of a storm were horrible and they had not had water to drink for hours (days?).

LPT put his foot in the saltwater and drew a circle with his foot in the water. From there he told occupants of the boat to drink. One man tried it and said it was freshwater! They all drank. From there LPT’s fame grew immeasurably. If you were to ask Thais to name 3 monks, LPT would always be one of them. If you ask them to name 1 monk, it is most likely they will name him. When you see a solid silver pendant like this one, you can usually be absolutely sure that the pendant is directly from a temple – made at or for the temple – because scammers don’t waste their time minting real solid silver amulets. They use bronze, and copper for metal pendants most likely.

We were really happy and surprised to find this rare Luang Pu Thuat pendant at our local temple today – Wat Tham Seua – Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi, Southern Thailand. We have only seen a couple of these in this style, and one of the others we saw was definitely a fake at a street market in Bangkok. Most of what you see in the street pendant market are replicas of the authentic pendants made at Theravada Buddhist Temples. This pendant has full detail and is in a nice fitting case.

This is a waterproof Luang Pu Thuat (Thuad) pendant with a cutaway style. The background is cutaway from this LPT shield and it gives a really nice, clean look. We have a few different LPT styles – here are all our authentic Luang Pu Thuat amulets.

Though you can put a case on this amulet, it is not meant to have one. There is an eyelet for a necklace, along with a solid silver ring. This pendant can be worn on the neck, but special edition Luang Pu Thuats like this one are usually placed on altars in the home by Thai people. Really up to you. The silver will gradually change color a little bit over time, but you can clean it up easily with silver cleaner every couple years as desired.

The plastic on this pendant is strong and very clear. Nice new condition and no scratches. It will look great around your neck! It is small enough for a man or woman. This makes an excellent gift for a Thai person overseas in the USA or wherever you are.

The color of the coating on top of Phra Luang Pu Thuat is a coating of pearl shell white – sparkling finish. It is semi-glossy and reflective. It looks magical. You will love this amulet, I am sure!
