Over the years we have heard so many stories about the power of Luang Pu Thuat amulets changing someone’s life here in Thailand and also overseas. Thai people revere Phra LPT like no other Buddhist monk. The stories of his powers are legend. There are so many personal stories we have heard from locals here in the country of Thailand that we wanted to share a couple of them.
We took some creative license with the stories to make them a little more interesting.
Story 1: Phra Luang Pu Thuat Amulet Gives Protection from a Crime
Narin, a young jewelry merchant in Bangkok, often traveled alone with a satchel full of valuable gems he used for creating his masterpieces of rings, bracelets, and necklace jewelry. He was trained in Sri Lanka, but was a Thai man in Bangkok with his small family. On one particular evening, he found himself walking down a poorly lit alley after a meeting with a client to show some of his finest jewels for a commission work that would have been his highest paid creation to date. His instincts told him something was wrong, but the shortcut would save him time.
His odd feeling didn’t save him because he didn’t pay attention to it.
Suddenly, two men emerged from the shadows, one with a big Rambo-type knife. They demanded his bag, and Narin’s heart raced. Remembering the Luang Pu Thuat amulet his grandmother had given him, he clasped it tightly under his shirt. She had always told him stories about how the revered monk’s amulets were known to protect wearers from harm, even in horrible circumstances like violent crime. While skeptical, Narin still wore it daily out of respect for her and the Buddhist beliefs he grew up with in Northern Thailand.
One of the robbers reached for his bag, but Narin found the courage to push back and shout for help. Strangely, the knife-wielding man hesitated, his face contorting with fear. “Something is watching us,” the man muttered to his friend before turning to run. His accomplice, confused but equally spooked, followed suit.
They FELT something there that was watching what was going on. They got spooked and left Narin alone.
Shaken but unharmed, Narin made it to safety and reported the incident to the police. Later, he learned similar robberies had occurred in the area, but victims hadn’t been as lucky. Reflecting on the event, he couldn’t shake the feeling that his amulet had played a role in keeping him safe and from loosing his very valuable stones that would have put them in the poor house.
The story of his escape spread among his family and friends, reinforcing their belief in the amulet’s power. Grateful for his safety, Narin developed a newfound respect for the spiritual protection the amulet symbolized.
Some people attribute great power to Phra LPT amulets. Some ignore it. Some have never heard about it. To be honest, after twenty years in the country, we have heard too many stories to discount them all. There is something going on, but we don’t know what to believe. Is it true that the amulet has a power? A protection? A watching over the people who wear the amulets? We are skeptical but it is hard to debate people who believe wholeheartedly that the amulets have something to do with their good forture.
Story 2: Luang Pu Thuat Amulet Brings Good Luck in a Life-Changing Situation
Supansa, a single mother from a rural village in Udonthani in the northeast, was desperate to provide a better life for her daughter. A job interview in Bangkok for a position as a hotel receptionist seemed like the opportunity she had been praying for. However, competing with dozens of other applicants and navigating the bustling city intimidated her.
Before leaving for the city, her uncle handed her a Luang Pu Thuat amulet, saying, “This is a gift for good luck. Many people have experienced miraculous turns of fortune with his blessing.” Supansa wasn’t sure if an amulet could influence her fate, but she appreciated the gesture and hung it around her neck.
At the interview, Supansa felt nervous, stumbling over a few questions.
The other women applying for the job were prettier, smarter, quicker, and flirtier than she was. She could see that. Her hope dropped.
Her confidence wavered, but she instinctively touched the amulet under her blouse, silently praying for strength. To her surprise, the interviewer smiled warmly and asked her to share a personal story instead of focusing on formal questions. Supansa spoke passionately about her determination to create a better future for her daughter through getting this job.
Two days later, she received the news. She was offered the job! She later learned the interviewer had been moved by her sincerity, choosing her over candidates with more experience. Supansa felt immense gratitude toward her Luang Pu Thuat amulet, crediting it for bringing her the luck she needed at a critical moment. She now tells others about her experience, urging them to believe in the monk’s blessings.
Later, while at work she told her co-workers of the effect of the amulet and another co-worker had a similar story about how she was hired at a previous job in what she believed to be also due to the power of the Phra Luang Pu Thuat amulet she wore to the interview.
Story 3: LPT Amulet Helps Recovery from a Serious Illness
At 42, Somchai was a hardworking farmer in southern Thailand. His life revolved around his crops and family. It was a hard life, but he and his ancestors did it for a lifetime. One day, he fell ill with severe fever and fatigue. Doctors diagnosed him with dengue fever, a serious illness common in the region. While his family cared for him, his condition worsened, leaving them terrified of losing him.
Dengue fever can affect people differently, some more severely than others. Also, if you have the same strain of Dengue twice, it can be especially bad. Working outside, Somchai had experienced Dengue Fever six times already so he was likely on the second or third time experiencing the same strain of the virus.
Somchai’s mother brought a small Luang Pu Thuat amulet she had kept for years and placed it under his pillow as he slept. “Luang Pu Thuat’s amulets are said to have healing powers,” she said to him in his ear as he slept. Her voice trembling with hope. She also shared stories of villagers who had recovered from illnesses after praying to Phra Luang Pu Thuat and wearing his amulets.
When he woke up he felt the amulet under his pillow. Desperate, Somchai clutched the amulet in his hands whenever he was awake, silently praying for the strength to survive. Though weak, he felt a sense of calm and reassurance from the amulet’s presence. Over the next few days, Somchai’s fever began to subside, and his energy gradually returned.
The doctors were pleased with his unexpected recovery and wanted to credit the medicine. His family attributed it to the blessing of the Luang Pu Thuat amulet instead. Somchai, deeply grateful, visited a local temple dedicated to Luang Pu Thuat to offer prayers and make a donation. He now carries the amulet with him everywhere, sharing his story as a testament to the miraculous healing power it brought into his life.
There are many tens of thousands of Thais who have a similar story about sickness and believing their LPT or other Buddhist amulet affected the outcome in a positive way. Is it true? Does believe give the amulet more power? We tend to think so. It just seems undeniable that it helps in some way. That isn’t to say that some people don’t die from severe disease while clutching a Buddhist amulet, but the power of hope probably helps considerably to save some.
