Description

Very Rare – Single Edition Black Jade Phra Pidta Amulet from Thailand’s Sacred Wat Mahathat

We found just 2 of these in 20 years of looking in Thailand for Thailand’s top amulets. This is one of our favorite amulets we’ve ever had the pleasure of finding on a trip. On this trip we went to Wat Mahathat and other very old – thousand year old – temples in Nakhon Si Thammarat in Thailand’s South.

The Very Rare Single Edition Black Jade Phra Pidta Amulet is a unique and powerful item that many people seek for its protective qualities. Black jade, the material used for this amulet, is known to absorb negative energy and keep the person wearing it safe from harm. It’s also believed to help balance the mind, giving the wearer more emotional stability. Other people choose black jade because it is connected with strength and calm, making it perfect for an amulet like this.

The Phra Pidta figure, shown with hands covering its eyes, is a well-known symbol in Thai Buddhism. It represents a monk blocking out the distractions of the outside world in order to focus completely on inner peace and the ecstatic nature of first Jhana. Because of this, Phra Pidta is seen as an amulet that can protect you from bad things happening and help you stay centered and mindful in your daily life. Wearing a Phra Pidta amulet is believed to bring good luck and keep away negative influences in many circumstances of everyday life.

Wat Mahathat in Nakhon Si Thammarat, where this amulet was made and blessed, is one of the most famous temples in Thailand. The temple is hundreds of years old and plays a huge role in Thai Buddhism. Wat Mahathat is known for producing amulets that are considered especially strong in their spiritual energy. Having this Phra Pidta amulet from such an important temple adds to its value, not just as a collectible, but as a tool for spiritual protection.

Combining the rare black jade material with the Phra Pidta design and the blessings from Theravada Buddhist monks at Wat Mahathat makes this amulet stand out as an immediate collector’s item. It’s not just a piece of jewelry or a simple good luck charm—it’s something deeply tied to Thai tradition and Buddhist beliefs. People who wear it do so for the sense of security and inner calm it provides, knowing that it offers a connection to both the spiritual and the physical world.

You can wear this one, or put it safely on your Buddhist altar at home or at your business.

Specifications list for rare black jade Phra Pidta pendant from Southern Thailand's most respected temple - Wat Mahathat in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

This is a very rare collectible Jade PHRA PIDTA pendant from the famous Wat Mahathat temple in Nakhon Si Thammarat in Jatukam round style and carved of solid black jade stone.

We first saw this pendant around 2011 at the temple and it was obvious they had just put them out recently because they only had a few left. We bought every Phra Pidta pendant they had in black jade, and we’ve sold two already. Today we have 2 left in perfect condition, and one where the back appears to have been too difficult to finish – and the engraver left it unglossed in a raw state. We will not sell that pendant unless you specifically ask for it.

So we have just two of these perfect black jade Pidta’s left, and will sell them this year without a doubt. We have looked for years at temples to find more. In Bangkok we found one temple with three of them, but they were not for sale. They were just for show in the pendant case. This is what temples and pendant sellers all over Thailand do with special edition or special collection pendants like these rare gems.

Please specify which of the pendants you would like – they have different reverse sides. One is a sacred round geometrical yant design with star maps and sacred arrangement. The other has larger Pali Buddhist symbols. Today we have both. At a later time, we may have only one.
