Solid Copper Sothorn Buddha Special Edition Amulet
This pendant comes from Wat Phra Mahathat, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand just east of Surat Thani.

We were lucky enough to find a limited number of these highly detailed and very rare, “Sothorn Buddha” Thai Amulets from one of our favorite temples in southern Thailand. In fact, we were very lucky to find this pendant at all because it was in a place we had never looked before for pendants at the temple.
It’s appropriate that this is a number 9, lucky Thai pendant – as we were VERY lucky to find it!
Now you’re lucky to be able to own one of very few of these limited edition pendants ever made (100).
This Thai pendant is solid copper and will last forever. Yes, the color will change over time like every piece of pure copper you have ever seen. It’s the natural progression of things. Perhaps this is why Thai pendants are nearly always made of copper, brass, and bronze.
They all change colors with time – showing the natural evolution of life, of nature.
Translation of Sothorn Buddha Amulet
This Buddha image is known to Buddhists as the Sothorn Buddha, meaning, 3 Buddhas in one body. More specifically, it means Buddha, Sangha, and Dhamma in one.
On the front of the pendant, it says at the bottom – Phra Si Gayamuni (name of the monk creating the pendant design) – Nakhon si Thammarat (place)
On the reverse – 2552 – the year the pendant was made.
Top reverse – “Noppharat Sangwan” which is the name of the pendant according to the monk who named it. It means, 9 Pendant. The number 9 in Thailand is sacred as lucky – and used for many lucky things. Thais, for instance, pay a lot of money for phone numbers or license plates with 999s in them.
Bottom reverse – “Wat Phra Mahathat, Nakhon si Thammarat” – temple name, and city.
The image on the reverse is an open lotus flower with nine points of importance… corresponding to the points that are hard to see with the image I sent, but are points on the back. The lotus is used in many Buddhist amulets.
This pendant is for luck and safety for the wearer.
We are putting a limit of 2 per customer on this amulet, as we have a very limited supply and they are not renewable. Once gone – there are no more for sale at the temple.
