We just returned from a trip to the local temple where the Jatukam Ramathep pendants originated. Each time we go it seems more difficult to find quality, I mean really premium Jatukam amulets. This time we were at the temple for over seven hours and we really hit every place we know to find the best pendants possible.
The result is below – these are some images of our newest inventory. These are not yet on the ThaiAmuletStore.com main website, and they won’t be there for a number of days until we can update that site. We’ll add a price and item number to each of the pendants below so you can email us if you want to purchase any of them before they go live at the main pendant market place on our site.
Some people write email to ask us, “Are Thais still buying Jatukam pendants in 2014?”
The answer is ‘yes.’ We live in Southern Thailand, so everywhere we look someone has a Jatukam pendant on their neck. What we don’t see are temples outside of Nakhon Si Thammarat selling Jatukams any longer, or, in very reduced numbers. Thais are tending toward buying only at the original temples for these powerful amulets. This makes sense, as every Buddhist temple in Thailand seemed to jump on the bandwagon five and more years ago as the craze for these pendants was hitting its peak.
Micro temples with no affiliation with the temples in Nakhon si Thammarat were hiring minting machines, renting and buying them to make new Jatukam Ramathep pendants to try to cash in on them. Though many pendants were sold from these temples, there was a glut. The market was absolutely flooded with them. As a result, many people felt like the pendants they bought for $100 to $500 each were not really worth what they paid. This resulted in a coming back to the originators of the sacred amulets.
All of these below are originals direct from Wat Mahathat in Nakhon si Thammarat, Thailand. We have some really exceptional finds we were able to source from some of our long-time friends at the temple. Each time we go the selection gets smaller and smaller. If you are interested in owning an original Jatukam, act now and get something before we sell our last collection.
Thanks to all the buyers we’ve had for these amazing amulets!
