Rare Petrified Wood Somdej Buddha Pendants Description
Somdej Toh originally created several Buddha pendants with a very unique style that has been in demand for scores of years. As a tribute and because the style is so lovely, monks of modern times recreate the style and add their own ideas.
This Somdej-style Buddha representation is just like one of the original Somdej styles. However, the lotus-shaped pendant is different. Why a lotus? The lotus symbolizes the essential pureness of the body, speech, and thoughts (mind).
Though it grows out of muddy water, the lotus flower grows spectacularly vivid and bright. As water falls on the long lotus petals, it is said to symbolize easy detachment because the water rolls right off and back to the water below.
Eight of the pendants below have on the reverse side an inscription that reads, “Wat Lahn Kuat” and the date, either 47 or 48. This is in Buddhist years, so 2548 corresponds to the Christian year of 2005. Year 2559 is 2016. These pendants were crafted during those years.

Everyone seems to have a story about their amulet, and once they rent one – they don’t tend to ever relinquish it. Somdej pendants are passed down through history from father to son or daughter… and so on.
