Recently we took a trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Penang Island. We walked around a lot and we were surprised that we found no Thai amulets, no Buddhist pendants for sale at any shop in those two cities. There must be some, but we just didn’t happen to see any shop dedicated to selling Buddha, Kwan Yin, or Ganesh amulets.
We did see some jade shops, and we actually bought a couple of items at one of these shops. The jade quality wasn’t so great, but the price was right.
If you are living in Malaysia and you want to start an pendant business, just get in contact with us and let us know what your budget is for buying pendants from us. We will give you as many different kinds as possible for the amount you spend, that way you can see what sells and what doesn’t.
Malaysia has 28 million people living in the country and 20% are Buddhist according to Wiki’s stats. Over 5 million Buddhists and many of them are buying pendants or don’t know where they can go and preview and browse pendant collections.
We have many orders for Buddha pendants from Malaysia, and yet I think we could sell a lot more through a small shop or stand located in a mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital city.
If anyone is interested in this, and you speak English well enough to communicate and resolve business issues, then let us know. Email:

Hi Joy… I’m from KL and truth is, you need to know the places in order to find amulet shops in KL. Here let me list some of them:
1) Wat Chetawan in the town of Petaling Jaya about 30km west of KL. This is probably one of the most famous Thai temple in KL. There are 2 amulet shops here, one run by the temple another by a trader.
2) Endah Parade located at Sri Petaling about 20km south of KL, reachable by LRT. There are 4 shops there, with 2 offering service of encasing amulets in waterproof casing.
3) Pudu Plaza in KL has several amulet shops, however I have not personally been there. Heard there are fake amulets sold there.
4) Morning/night markets around KL sometimes have street pedlars selling amulets on makeshift stalls. Heard they sell fake amulets too.
Truth is Joy, many Malaysians prefer to get their amulets either from the numerous Thai temples in KL and Penang (like Wat Chetawan) or go directly to Thailand and get from the source which is the temple. Reason being Thailand is very near to Malaysia either by road or by flight.
Secondly there have been cases of unscrupulous shops or street vendors selling fake amulets which further prompted Malaysians to just go to Thailand to get amulets. The closest Thai town with good temple would be Hatyai about 5 hours drive away from KL.
Are there any good (reputable) shops selling amulets that come direct from the temples of Thailand, in Malaysia then? Doesn’t sound like it. I think the is why we do so well with our amulets, we don’t buy used, we don’t buy from anyone else other than the temples directly. This way we cannot have any scams. We buy from the source, not a secondhand source. Anyway, thank you for your comment – very nice!
